Following the successful Train-the-Trainers session, the INSPIRE partnership is now preparing to launch its
pilot training activities, planned for the second quarter of 2026.
These pilots will take place in Finland, Spain and Greece, representing a key milestone in validating the
new Competence Units for the European Welding Inspector qualification, adapted for
hydrogen pipeline inspection.
Who Can Participate?
The training sessions will be addressed to professionals who meet one of the following access requirements:
🔹ISO 9712 – Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Level 2 or equivalent.
🔹Certification under an ISO 17024-compliant welding inspection scheme.
🔹Minimum EWF/IIW European/International Welding Inspector (EWI/IWI) – Basic level.
🔹Minimum EWF/IIW International/European Welding Specialist (IWS/EWS).
What Will Be Tested?
During the pilots, participants will test the two new Competence Units (CUs) developed by the project:
🔹CU: H₂ Material Integrity and Safety.
🔹CU: Inspection and Testing for Hydrogen Pipelines.
Each pilot will combine digital and AR-based training tools with practical learning tasks, ensuring that the
modules meet both industry expectations and pedagogical standards for VET in the hydrogen sector.
Final dates and registration details will be announced soon on.
Stay tuned to join one of the first training initiatives in Europe focused on welding
inspection for hydrogen infrastructures.
